8.12.010 Adoption by reference.

A Washington State fireworks law, Chapter 70.77 RCW, is adopted by reference as and for the fireworks law of the City, as if set forth in full in this chapter. (Ord. C-023, 1982)

8.12.020 Fireworks sales.

Fireworks sales will be restricted to July 2nd, beginning at 8:00 a.m., to July 4th, at 8:00 p.m. (Ord. C-278, 1993)

8.12.030 Fireworks discharge.

Fireworks discharge shall be restricted to July 4th only, beginning at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight. (Ord. C-552, 2003; Ord. C-278, 1993)

8.12.040 Rules and regulations.

A. Fireworks shall not be allowed on City property to include all City parks and play fields, buildings, parking lots, and roads and streets in a manner that obstructs or interferes with vehicles.

B. Fireworks shall not be allowed on school property to include all play fields, buildings and parking lots.

C. Fireworks shall not be allowed on vacant lots and fields.

D. Except by approval of the owner, fireworks shall not be allowed on commercial diversified, central commercial, industrial and public/quasi-public areas to include parking lots, except for commercial displays approved by the City Council.

E. To protect the public health, safety, and welfare and avoid causing harm to persons or property, the Fire Chief is authorized to suspend the discharge of fireworks in the City during periods of extreme fire danger. For the purpose of this section, “extreme fire danger” means a period of hot, dry weather accompanied by low fuel moistures, or when conditions may otherwise warrant. (Ord. C-972 § 1, 2021; Ord. 8.12.050 Violation – Penalty.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. C-741 § 2, 2011)
