12.04.010 Prohibited acts in public parks.

The following acts are prohibited without authorization and approval by the City within the City of Airway Heights public parks:

A. No person shall start, build or maintain any open fire within the limits of a public park of the City except in fire pits specifically provided by the Parks and Recreation Department for such purposes, or in charcoal barbecues.

B. No person shall use fireworks in a City park to include all play fields, buildings and parking lots.

C. No person shall fly remote control aircraft or rockets in a City park.

D. No person shall play golf in a City park.

E. No person shall pick any flower or cut any tree or shrub within a public park of the City except employees of the City duly authorized to do so.

F. No person shall carry or have in their possession any firearm within a public park of the City except Law Enforcement Officers of the United States, state of Washington or of any city or county.

G. No person shall erect or maintain any tent or other temporary shelter or park any trailer, motor home or automobile between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to sunrise for the purpose of camping or staying overnight in a public park within the City.

H. No person shall drive or operate any vehicle, whether motor-powered or propelled by human power or gravity, within any park within the City at a rate of speed greater than five miles per hour.

I. No person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle on the lawns, grass or other planted areas within any public park of the City. This prohibition shall not apply to any wheelchair or other human-powered vehicle while used in the transportation of any disabled person.

J. All City parks are closed between 10:00 p.m. and sunrise each day and no person shall during such period go into or remain in any City park. (Ord. C-748 § 1, 2011; Ord. C-016, 1982; Ord. 202, 1979)

12.04.011 Exceptions to prohibited acts.

Any person or entity desiring to do any of the acts prohibited by AHMC 12.04.010 shall be entitled to do so if, upon application to the Parks Director, a written authorization is granted. Any written authorization shall specify what activity is to be allowed, the person or entity allowed, and the time for the activity. (Ord. C-016, 1982)

12.04.020 Violations.

Violation of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor. (Ord. 202, 1979)
