6.05.010 Purpose.

It is declared that the public policy of the town of Beaux Arts Village is to secure and maintain such levels of animal control as will protect human health and safety, and to the greatest degree practicable, prevent injury to property and cruelty to animal life. To this end it is the purpose of this chapter to provide a means of licensing dogs and cats and controlling errant animal behavior so that such animal behavior shall not become a public nuisance, and to prevent cruelty to animals. 6.05.020 Licenses required.

All dogs and cats owned, kept or maintained within the town shall be licensed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. [Ord. 271 § 2, 1997]

6.05.030 King County animal control regulations adopted.

The provisions of the animal control regulation of the King County Code, Chapters 11.04 and 11.12, are hereby adopted by reference as though fully set forth herein. Copies of the King County Code chapters cited herein are filed in the office of the town clerk and are available for public inspection. [Ord. 271 § 3, 1997]

6.05.040 References deleted.

Any reference in the King County animal control regulations to “kennels, animal rescuer, cattery, grooming service, hobby cattery, hobby kennel, kennel, livestock, pet shop, shelter, special hobby kennel” is deleted since such businesses or enterprises are not permitted in the town. [Amended during 2011 codification; Ord. 271 § 4, 1997]

6.05.050 Number limitation.

No more than two adult dogs and two adult cats may be kept on any one premises, unless acquired and kept on such premises prior to the passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter. [Ord. 271 § 5, 1997]

6.05.060 Running at large, nuisance hours amended.

References in the King County animal control regulations to “running at large, nuisance hours” are amended to read as follows: “A dog running at large within the town between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following day.” [Ord. 271 § 6, 1997]

6.05.070 Enforcement.

For the purposes of enforcement of this chapter, the director of the animal control authority and his authorized representatives may patrol within the town only upon being notified that there is an alleged violation of the town ordinance or upon request by the town. [Ord. 271 § 7, 1997]

6.05.080 Penalties.

Any person found guilty of violating any terms of this chapter or any terms of the applicable King County animal control regulations in effect shall be guilty of a civil infraction punishable by a fine of up to $50.00 per violation. It shall be a separate violation for each and every day, or portion thereof, during which any violation of any provision of this chapter continues after the issuance of a notice of violation.
