2.16.010 Municipal court established.

The Bonney Lake police court is reorganized and reconstituted as the municipal court of Bonney Lake, pursuant to Chapter 3.50 RCW and as amended by the Court Improvement Act of 1984, Chapter 258, Laws of 1984. All of the functions and duties of the present Bonney Lake police court, together with all cases pending thereunder, are transferred to the reconstituted municipal court of Bonney Lake. (Ord. 545 § 1, 1984).

2.16.020 Municipal court – Jurisdiction – Powers – Duties.

The municipal court of Bonney Lake shall possess such jurisdiction and shall exercise such power and duties as are set forth in Chapter 3.50 RCW and in RCW 46.55.120. (Ord. 785 § 4, 1998; Ord. 545 § 1, 1984).

2.16.030 Municipal judges – Appointment – Qualifications – Jurisdiction.

A municipal court judge or judges and judges pro tem if any, shall be appointed by the mayor pursuant to Chapter 3.50 RCW. Such judge or judges shall possess such qualifications and shall exercise such jurisdiction as provided for in Chapter 3.50 RCW as now enacted and as may be hereafter amended. (Ord. 545 § 1, 1984).

2.16.040 Municipal judges – Compensation.

The municipal court judge shall receive part-time compensation as established in the nonunion salary grid. The municipal court judge shall be entitled to prorated vacation and sick leave benefits based on the same rate of accrual as other employees within the city based on years of service with the city. The municipal court judge shall be entitled to benefit from the dental and vision plans provided by the city. The municipal court judge shall be entitled to medical benefits provided by the city. The municipal judge shall be entitled to participate in life insurance benefits provided by the city. The municipal judge shall be entitled to participate in disability insurance benefits offered by the city. The municipal judge shall be entitled to participate in the State Public Employees Retirement System. 2.16.050 Municipal court judge pro tem – Compensation.

The municipal court judge pro tem may receive, upon presenting a bill to the city for said services, compensation of $250.00 per regular court session for half day; $400.00 for a full eight-hour day or $65.00 per hour for other matters. (Ord. 1105 § 1, 2005; Ord. 814 § 2, 1999).
