9.18.010 PURPOSE.

This chapter is an exercise of the police power for the purpose of abating the fire hazard occasioned by smoking in theaters, busses, and buildings posted with "No Smoking" signs. (Ord. 1518 §1, 1943)

9.18.015 SMOKING IN POSTED BUILDINGS PROHIBITED.

It is unlawful to light or smoke a cigar, cigarette or a pipe, or carry a lighted cigar, cigarette or a pipe in any building in the city on which is posted in a conspicuous place over and near each principal entrance a notice in plain, legible characters, stating that no smoking is allowed in such building. 9.18.020 THEATER RESTRICTIONS.

It is unlawful to light or smoke a cigar, cigarette or a pipe, or to carry a lighted cigar, cigarette or a pipe in any place in a theater except in a restroom, lounge, or other space therein properly equipped with ashtrays, and approved by the fire chief of the City of Bremerton as a safe place for smoking. 9.18.030 BUS RESTRICTIONS.

It is unlawful to light or smoke a cigar, cigarette or a pipe, or to carry a lighted cigar, cigarette or a pipe on any public transportation bus in the City of Bremerton. (Ord. 1518 §3, 1943)

9.18.050 PENALTY FOR VIOLATION.

Any person convicted of violating the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to the provisions of BMC Chapter 1.12. (Ord. 4733, Reaffirmed, 11/30/2000; Ord. 4680, Amended, 12/17/1999; Ord. 1518 §5, 1943)
