The following days shall be recognized as legal holidays:

New Year’s Day

January 1

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Third Monday of January

Presidents’ Day

Third Monday of February

Memorial Day

Last Monday of May

Independence Day

July 4

Labor Day

First Monday of September

Veterans’ Day

November 11

Thanksgiving Day

Fourth Thursday of November

Day after Thanksgiving Day

Fourth Friday of November

Christmas Eve

December 24

Christmas Day

December 25

Floating Holiday

Whenever any legal holiday set forth in this section falls upon a Sunday, the following Monday shall be a legal holiday. Whenever any legal holiday set forth in this section falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be a legal holiday, with the exception of December 24th. When December 24th falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Tuesday; and when December 24th falls on a Friday, it will be observed on the preceding Thursday.

The city manager shall have the authority to administer holidays, floating holidays, and holiday overtime schedules as provided in the city personnel policies or applicable collective bargaining agreements. [Ord. 594 § 1, 2013; Ord. 507 § 1, 2009]

2.05.020 Hours of business.

City offices shall be open for the transaction of business Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. except for legal holidays and such days or hours as may, from time to time, be specified by motion or resolution of the city council. [Ord. 503 § 1, 2008]
