2.32.010 Residency requirements – Exceptions.

From and after the date of September 15, 2004, no person shall be appointed to any office or employed by the city who does not reside within the corporate limits of the city and/or the corporate limits of the Castle Rock School District No. 401; provided, however, that this shall not require any persons applying for or holding office, place, position or employment under the provisions of RCW 41.08.075 (fire department personnel), 41.12.010 (police personnel), the provisions of RCW 3.50.010 et seq. (municipal court), and the provisions of Chapter 2.12 CRMC (city attorney) to reside within the corporate limits of the city or the corporate limits of Castle Rock School District No. 401. [Ord. 2004-08 § 1, 2004; Ord. 409 § 1, 1975].

2.32.020 Applicability to prior appointees.

All employees appointed prior to the enactment of the ordinance codified in this chapter establishing residence qualifications as provided in this chapter shall not be discharged by reason of such appointive officials’ or employees’ having established their residence outside the corporate limits of the city and/or the corporate limits of the Castle Rock school district. [Ord. 409 § 2, 1975].

2.32.030 Emergency personnel.

Due to the need, from time to time, for emergency response, all police and fire employees and all other emergency personnel are required to live within a 30-minute response time from their respective place of employment; provided, however, this section shall not apply to police and fire personnel who are employees of the city as of the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter.
