LODGING TAX

6.30.010 Additional tax established.

The board of commissioners imposes an additional two percent lodging tax (RCW 67.28.181) in addition to the present two percent imposed under Chapter 67.180 RCW. The revenue generated from this additional lodging tax will be allocated as follows:

(1)    Twenty percent of the additional revenue to be used at the discretion of the board of Chelan County commissioners.

(2)    Eighty percent of the additional revenue to be primarily utilized for television advertising targeted to visitors primarily outside of the Pacific Northwest. This advertising will feature those areas of the county that generate the tax fund. (Res. 2005-102, 11/14/05).

6.30.020 Distribution of hotel/motel tax for 2009—2018.

The revenue received by Chelan County from the hotel/motel tax will be distributed quarterly for a ten-year period beginning January 1, 2009, and ending December 31, 2018, as follows:

(1)    The city of Wenatchee shall be allocated fifteen percent of the total collected, not to exceed sixty-five thousand dollars per year for ten years, to partially fund the repayment of bonds for a new capital facilities upgrade for the Wenatchee Convention Center. If fifteen percent of the collected revenue does not reach sixty-five thousand dollars, the difference will be allocated from the commissioners’ discretionary portion.

(2)    Both Leavenworth Chamber and the Lake Chelan Chamber shall each be allocated thirty-five percent of the total collected per year through a five-year services agreement with a five-year renewal option.

(3)    The Cascade Loop shall be allocated ten percent of the total collected for five years with a renewal option.

(4)    Five percent of the total collected and any other remaining funds shall be used at the discretion of the Chelan County board of commissioners to ensure allocation to the city of Wenatchee and to continue the funding of eligible activities and projects. (Res. 2008-124, 8/18/08).
