10.04.010 Planning department created.

There is created a county planning department in accordance with the provisions of RCW 36.70.040. (Res. 529-E § 2, 2/17/69).

10.04.020 Director appointment.

The board of county commissioners shall appoint a director of planning to head such department. The director shall perform those tasks assigned to him by the board and those which are normally incidental to the operation of a planning department and authorized under Chapter 36.70 RCW. (Res. 529-E § 3, 2/17/69).

10.04.030 Planning commission created—Terms.

The board of county commissioners shall appoint a planning commission to assist the planning department in carrying out its authorized duties. The commission shall consist of nine members, not more than three of whom shall reside in any one commissioner district. The original terms of office of the members of the planning commission shall be as hereafter set forth. Thereafter the term of office of each successor shall be four years. The expiration date of a current term shall be December 31st of the year in which said term expires.

(1) Commissioner District No. One:

(A) For a term of two years from date.

(B) For a term of three years from date.

(C) For a term of four years from date.

(2) Commissioner District No. Two:

(A) For a term of one year from date.

(B) For a term of two years from date.

(C) For a term of four years from date.

(3) Commissioner District No. Three:

(A) For a term of one year from date.

(B) For a term of three years from date.

10.04.035 Consecutive terms.

A policy is established limiting an individual to no more than three consecutive terms on the planning commission. The intent is to limit any person to a maximum of twelve years; however, fewer would be allowed if an individual was appointed on an interim basis to fill an unexpired term. Any existing member who has served in excess of the limits established may remain on the commission for the duration of the current term. (Res. 80-46 (part), 4/7/80).

10.04.040 Powers and duties of commission.

The Chelan County planning commission shall have all of the powers and perform each and all of the duties specified for such planning commission by Chapter 36.70 RCW and later amendments thereto, together with any duties or authority which are or hereafter may be conferred upon them by the laws of the state of Washington and the board of Chelan County commissioners. The performance of such duties and exercise of such authority shall be subject to each and all of the limitations expressed in such legislative enactment or enactments. (Res. 529-E § 5, 2/17/69).

10.04.050 Implementation of zoning and subdivision ordinances.

It is the intent of the board of Chelan County commissioners that the Chelan County planning department and the planning commission, hereby organized and constituted, implement the ordinances of Chelan County as to zoning and subdivision, and such others as may apply, as they now exist or may be hereafter amended.
