11.36.010 Definitions.

(1) “Alley” means a public highway not designated for general travel and used primarily as a means of access to the rear of residences and business establishments.

(2) “City street” means every public highway, or part thereof, located within the limits of cities and town, except alleys.

(3) “State highway” includes every primary and secondary state highway or part thereof. [Ord. 640 § 1, 1967.]

11.36.020 Limits set.

Maximum speed of motor vehicle traffic on all city streets and state highways within the city limits of the city of Clarkston is hereby fixed as follows:

(1) Fifteen miles per hour on all alleys.

(2) Twenty miles per hour on the following designated school zones:

(a) That portion of Poplar Street intersected on the west by 13th Street and on the east by Burns Street.

(b) That portion of Chestnut Street intersected on the west by 13th Street and on the east by 9th Street; that portion of 13th Street commencing 330 feet south of the intersection of 13th Street and Chestnut Street and ending 330 feet north of the intersection of 13th Street and Sycamore Street; that portion of Sycamore Street commencing at the intersection of 13th Street and Sycamore Street and ending 660 feet east of said intersection; that portion of 11th Street intersected on the north by Diagonal Street and on the south by Chestnut Street; that portion of 10th Street intersected on the north by Diagonal Street and on the south by Chestnut Street.

(c) That portion of Chestnut Street intersected on the west by 6th Street and on the east by 2nd Street; that portion of Adams Street intersected on the west by 6th Street and on the east by 2nd Street; that portion of Libby Street intersected on the west by 5th Street and on the east by 3rd Street; that portion of 4th Street intersected on the north by Adams Street and on the south by Libby Street; that portion of 2nd Street intersected on the north by Chestnut Street and on the south by Adams Street.

(3) Twenty-five miles per hour on all other city streets and state highways within the city limits of the city of Clarkston, except that portion of Bridge Street described under subsection (4) of this section.

(4) Thirty-five miles per hour on that portion of Bridge Street bounded on the west by the city limits (presently 13th Street) and on the east by the intersection of Bridge Street and Diagonal Street. [Ord. 640 § 2, 1967.]

11.36.030 Penalty for violations.

All violations of this chapter will be punishable by a fine not in excess of $500.00, or six months in the city jail, or by both fine and imprisonment. [Ord. 640 § 3, 1967.]
