MOVING BUILDINGS

15.28.030 Permit--Requirements.
15.28.010 Intent.
It is the intent of this chapter that persons moving buildings within the city of Colfax do so in a safe manner for the safety of the citizens of Colfax. (Prior code §14.24.010).
15.28.020 Permit--Required.
It is unlawful to move any structure or building across, over or through the streets and/or property of the city of Colfax without first obtaining a house moving permit from the city clerk. (Prior code §14.24.020).
15.28.030 Permit--Requirements.
Any person desiring to move any structure or building across, over or through the streets and/or property of the city of Colfax shall, at the time of applying for a house moving permit, pay a permit fee1 to the city treasurer and deliver a surety bond in the sum of five thousand dollars for indemnification to the city for property damage and personal injury caused from the moving of the structure and/or building. The house-moving permit must be secured by the applicant no later than two business days prior to moving the structure and/or building. (Ord. 1384 §2, 1995; prior code §14.24.030).
15.28.040 Moving hours.
The Colfax chief of police shall have the authority to determine the time and date that the applicant may move the structure and/or building across, over or through the streets and/or property of the city of Colfax. (Prior code §14.24.040).
15.28.050 Violation--Penalty.
Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined the sum of one hundred dollars, plus any damages to the city of Colfax caused from the moving of any structure and/or building. (Prior code §14.24.050).
