12.08.010 Method.

Each block within the city shall be designated by 100, progressively from the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Franklin Street so that, for example, the block bounded by Columbia Avenue, Franklin Street, Almira Avenue and Adams Street and facing on Columbia Avenue shall be designated as 100 and thus each block cardinally and progressively from the said main intersection shall be numbered and designated 200, 300, etc. For each ten feet of each block there shall be added one or two digits, measured cardinally from the said intersection and the lots and structures thereon shall be so numbered that odd digits shall be added to the lots and structures located on the south and west side of such streets, avenues, places or ways and even numbered digits shall be added to the lots or structures located on the north and east side of such streets as the same are progressively numbered from the said main intersection.

In any instance where a block is more than five hundred feet in length, for each twelve and one- half feet of such block there shall be added one or two digits. (Ord. 192 § 1, 1958; Ord. 188 ߧ 1 (part), 1A, 1957).

12.08.020 Street and numbering map.

There has been prepared and marked as “Street and Numbering Map” a plat on tracing paper identified by the signatures of the mayor and city clerk/treasurer, and which is a public record of the city exemplifying the matters and things provided in this chapter, said map is by reference made a part of this chapter. (Ord. 188 § 1 (part), 1957).

12.08.030 Notice of number.

Within thirty days from the date of the passage of the ordinance codified herein, the city clerk/treasurer shall cause notice to be given to the occupant, owner, or agent of each house, residence or place of business within the city, which notice shall designate and set out the number assigned to such house, residence or place of business; said notice may be given by mail or by personal service thereof. (Ord. 188 § 2, 1957).

12.08.040 Number specifications.

Within sixty days after such notice shall have been deposited in the post office or personally served, every person, occupant, owner, agent or organization shall cause to be affixed suitable reflector type numbers at least three inches in height and of metal or other appropriate construction at or near the front entrance to such house, residence or place of business readily visible from a point on the street in front of such structure.
