5.20.010 License required.

No person, firm or corporation shall engage in the business of or do the work of a scavenger in the city, except upon their own premises, without first obtaining a license therefor from the city council. (Ord. 96 § 1, 1903).

5.20.020 Application – Issuance fee.

Any person, firm or corporation may apply for such license at any regular meeting of the council; and the council may if it sees fit grant such license to any person therefor upon payment to the city treasurer of the sum of $2.00 which shall entitle the licensee to a license for a period of one year from the date of its issuance. (Ord. 96 § 2, 1903).

5.20.030 Unlicensed scavenger – Fine.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business or do the work of a scavenger of and for any person, except upon his own premises, without obtaining a license as provided in DMC 5.20.020, shall be punishable as provided in DMC 1.04.010. (Ord. 96 § 3, 1903).

5.20.040 Supervision.

All work done by such licensed scavenger shall be under the direction and control of the chief of police and in such a manner as he shall direct under the supervision of the council. And no person shall be liable to such scavenger for any work done by him as such until the same is approved by the chief of police. (Ord. 96 § 4, 1903).
