10.32.010 Surfaced streets.

(a) All oil-surface streets in the city except as set forth in DMC 10.32.050 are closed to vehicles whose gross weight (vehicle and load) exceeds 12,000 pounds. Local deliveries by vehicles which exceed these limits will be allowed over the shortest practical path from the closest exempted street by permit only from December 1st through May 1st.

(b) The following vehicles are specifically exempted for the above load limits:

(1) School buses for travel to or from school;

(2) Municipal or utilities vehicles such as snowplows, garbage trucks, electric power trucks, etc.;

(3) Emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, police vehicles, etc. (Ord. 894 § 1, 2002; Ord. 568 § 1, 1982).

10.32.050 Exceptions.

This chapter does not apply to the operation of vehicles in the following streets:

(1) Morgan Street (SR2) from eastern city limits west to city limits;

(2) Morgan Street from First Avenue west to Second Avenue;

(3) Park Street from First Avenue west to Third Avenue;

(4) Park Street from Harker Street west to Seventh Avenue;

(5) Park Street from Eighth Avenue west to Tenth Avenue;

(6) Sinclair Street from eastern city limits west to Seventh Avenue;

(7) Logan Street from Fifth Avenue west to Eighth Avenue;

(8) Jefferson Street from Seventh Avenue west to Twelfth Avenue (SR28);

(9) Alley south of Jefferson Street from Third Avenue west to Seventh Avenue;

(10) Washington Street from Fifth Avenue west to Seventh Avenue;

(11) Monroe Street from Eighth Avenue west to Fourteenth Avenue;

(12) First Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Park Street;

(13) Second Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Park Street;

(14) Third Avenue from city limits north to city limits south;

(15) Nichols Avenue from Sinclair Street to Lincoln County Hospital;

(16) Harker Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Park Street;

(17) Fifth Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) north to Sinclair Street;

(18) Fifth Avenue from Washington Street south to Jefferson Street;

(19) Sixth Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) north to Sinclair Street;

(20) Sixth Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Washington Street;

(21) Seventh Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) north to Sinclair Street;

(22) Seventh Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Madison Street;

(23) Eighth Avenue from Park Street north to Logan Street;

(24) Eighth Avenue from Jefferson Street south to city limits;

(25) Ninth Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Park Street;

(26) Tenth Avenue from Morgan Street (SR2) south to Park Street;

(27) Tenth Avenue from Jefferson Street south to Monroe Street;

(28) Twelfth Avenue (SR28) from Morgan Street (SR2) south to city limits;

(29) Nichols Avenue from Sinclair Street north to city limits.

All truck routes are subject to restrictions during the spring and the condition of asphalt. (Ord. 1086 § 1, 2015; Ord. 1019 § 1, 2009; Ord. 894 § 2, 2002; Ord. 754, 1995; Ord. 568 § 5, 1982).

10.32.060 Penalty.

(a) Every person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to the following fines:

Over-legal tires, wheelbase:

(1) First offense: $83.00;

(2) Second offense: $133.00;

(3) Third offense: $160.00.

(b) In addition to the above add three cents per excess pound. (Ord. 568 § 6, 1982).
