1.01.010 Adoption of optional municipal code

The City of DuPont, Washington, elects to be classified as a noncharter code City, under the Mayor-Council plan of government, as provided for in RCW Title 35A, the optional municipal code.  (Ord. 83, Aug. 7th, 1970; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.015 Re-enactment and ratification of ordinances

The Council hereby re-enacts and ratifies all ordinances and resolutions which have been adopted, and all actions which have been taken, by the City Council of the City of DuPont since January 1, 1977, excepting only those which have been amended or repealed by subsequent ordinances or resolutions, or those which have by their terms expired.  (Ord. 317 § 1, June 5th, 1985; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.020 Deposit of public funds

The Finance Director shall designate a suitable bank or banks in Pierce County, Washington, as depository for public funds of the City, and shall secure from such depository evidence of compliance with the laws of the State of Washington governing depositories of public funds.  (Ord. 2, June 14th, 1951; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.030 Designation of official newspaper

The TACOMA NEWS TRIBUNE, a newspaper of general circulation within the City of DuPont, is hereby designated as the official newspaper of the City.  (Ord. 176, June 9th, 1976; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.040 Posting agendas and other official City documents

The agenda of all public meetings shall be posted on official bulletin boards throughout the community as recommended by the City Clerk and approved by the City Council.  All posting of such meetings will be made no less than 24 hours prior to any such meeting.  (Ord. 228 §§ 1, 2, Oct. 10th, 1979; Ord. 00-661 § 1; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.050 Bids for publication of legal notices and ordinances

  Repealed by Ord. 16-1007. (Ord. 321 § 1, Nov. 13th, 1985; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.060 Ordinances--Two readings required

The City Council shall:

(a) Consider all ordinances on first reading at a regular City Council meeting by discussion and setting a date for second reading at another regular meeting.

(b) Consider adoption of an ordinance at a regular meeting after discussion on a second reading, unless the ordinance is approved by four affirmative votes of the City Council at first reading.  (Ord. 506 §§ 1, 2, Oct. 25th, 1994; Ord. 97-557 §§ 1, 2; Ord. 00-662 § 1; Ord. 08-863 § 1).

1.01.070 Biennial budget

On or before December 31st of each year, the City of DuPont Council shall adopt by resolution a planning calendar for the preparation and adoption of a biennial budget (even-numbered years) and a mid-biennial review (odd-numbered years).  (Ord. 18-1038 § 1 (Exh. A)).

1.01.080 City Hall business hours

(a) Regular Hours. The DuPont City Hall at 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, Washington, shall, unless otherwise set out in this section or in the event of emergency, be open to the general public under the following schedule:

(1) Monday through Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

(2) Friday: by appointment only.

(b) Holiday Hours. City Hall shall be closed for all federal holidays including, but not limited to: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

(c) Discretionary Closures. City Hall may be closed to the public at the discretion of the City Administrator, with the concurrence of the Mayor, for any reason with 24-hour notice posted on the front entrance to City Hall. (Ord. 21-1089).
