10.04.010 Speed limit – City limits.

A. The speed limit on all streets within the Everson City limits shall be 25 miles per hour unless otherwise provided by this chapter or otherwise posted by the City of Everson or by the State of Washington.

B. SR544 – Everson-Goshen Road/Mead Avenue: SR544 from approximately the west City limits on the Everson-Goshen Road at MP 6.51 to MP 7.00 (just west of the Mead Avenue/Kale Street curve) on Mead Avenue, 35 miles per hour, except in the school zone.

C. SR544 – Mead Avenue/Kale Street/Everson Road: SR544 from MP 7.00 (just west of the Mead Avenue/Kale Street curve) on Mead Avenue to MP 7.80 (approximately 200 feet west of Lincoln Street) on Everson Road, 35 miles per hour.

D. SR544 – Everson Road/West-East Main Street: SR544 from MP 7.80 (approximately 200 feet west of Lincoln Street) on Everson Road as Everson Road, West Main Street, and East Main Street to MP 8.48 (approximately 200 feet east of the East Fork Johnson Creek Bridge) on East Main Street, 25 miles per hour, except in the school crossing zone.

E. SR544 – East Main Street: SR544 as East Main Street from MP 8.48 (approximately 200 feet east of the East Fork Johnson Creek Bridge) east to the east City limits at the Burlington Northern Railroad track, 35 miles per hour, except in the school zone.

F. Everson Road/Mission Road: Everson Road beginning at the south side of the intersection of Everson Road and Kale Street, flowing south on Everson Road onto Mission Road, at Robinson Street intersection, and continuing thence south on Mission Road to the former south City limits as it existed prior to the Tiger-Van Boven annexation, 25 miles per hour.

G. Mission Road: Mission Road south from former south City limits as it existed prior to the Tiger-Van Boven annexation to the new south City limits, 35 miles per hour. 10.04.020 Speed limit – School zone.

The speed limit within all posted school zones, including posted school crossing zones, shall be 20 miles per hour when school zone lights are flashing. [Ord. 717 § 2, 2012; Ord. 677 § 30, 2008; Ord. 198, 1978; Ord. 183, 1977; Ord. 164, 1975.]

10.04.030 Violations – Penalties.

10.04.040 Speed limit – Process for setting and revising.

The process for setting and revising speed limits on streets within Everson City limits shall be as follows:

A. Speed limits on State highways located within Everson City limits shall be set through a coordinated process with the Washington State Department of Transportation as required by RCW 46.61.415.

B. Speed limits on all streets within City limits other than State highways shall be set and revised by the City Council following the holding of a duly advertised public hearing.

C. The setting or revising of speed limits within City limits shall be based on consideration of testimony received from the public and the recommendations of the Everson Police Department and Public Works Department based on an engineering and traffic investigation. [Ord. 717 § 3, 2012.]
