2.24.010 Establishment of office – Qualification.

There is hereby established the position of city attorney. The city attorney shall be licensed to practice law in the state of Washington and shall be in good standing pursuant to the rules of the Supreme Court of the state of Washington. (Ord. 1389 § 12, 2005; Ord. 266 § 1, 1955).

2.24.020 Appointment and term of office.

The city manager shall appoint and a majority of the city council shall confirm the appointment of some qualified person to the office of city attorney who shall thereafter hold that office during the city manager’s pleasure. (Ord. 1389 § 13, 2005; Ord. 266 § 2, 1955).

2.24.030 Compensation schedule.

The city attorney shall be engaged under, and be compensated in accordance with, a professional services contract, approved by the city manager and with the approval and concurrence of a majority of the city council. (Ord. 1389 § 14, 2005; Ord. 812 § 1, 1984).

2.24.040 Duties.*

The duties of the attorney shall be as set forth in the city attorney contract with the city. (Ord. 1389 § 15, 2005; Ord. 734 § 1, 1979; Ord. 266 § 3, 1955).
