2.24.010 Position and appointment.

The position of police chief shall be a full-time position excluded from the civil service pursuant to RCW 41.12.050 as presently adopted or hereafter amended. The police chief shall be appointed by the mayor and may be removed from office by the mayor at any time with or without cause. This provision shall not apply to an incumbent holding the position of police chief on the date the ordinance codified in this chapter is adopted. (Ord. 2012-19 § 1).

2.24.020 Chief – Qualifications.

During the term of appointment, the chief of police must reside at a location from which he or she can respond to incidents within the city of Grandview in no more than 10 minutes. (Ord. 2012-24 § 1; Ord. 2012-19 § 1).

2.24.030 Duties.

The police chief shall be the head of the police department. The police chief shall have primary responsibility to manage and prescribe rules and regulations for the governance and control of the city’s police department. The police chief shall have such authority as vested by federal, state or local law. The police chief shall serve on the city’s management team and may take on other duties as assigned.
