ZONING CLASSIFICATIONS

17.12.010 Purpose.

The purpose of zoning classifications is to assist in the implementation of the comprehensive plan with regard to the physical development of the town of Index by regulating and providing for existing and future land uses. (Ord. 370 § 3 (part), 2004).

17.12.020 Intent.

The intent of zoning classifications is to protect the character and stability of residential, commercial, light industrial, and other land uses and to ensure the orderly and beneficial development of these uses by:

(A) Allowing for each type of use;

(B) Ensuring compatibility between and among differing uses;

(C) Imposing standards to prevent unreasonable or detrimental effects of neighboring uses; and

(D) Regulating the intensity of land use.

The intent also is to preserve the historic, aesthetic, and natural features of the town of Index by establishing standards to protect environmental areas and by providing for site plan and environmental review of proposals. (Ord. 370 § 3 (part), 2004).
