3.05.010 Discrimination in employment prohibited.

The county is an equal opportunity employer and will comply with federal, state and local laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination in employment based on race, color, religion, religious affiliation, creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, honorably discharged veteran or military status, or the presence of a sensory, mental or physical disability.

3.05.020 Equal opportunity employment.

Employment in Kitsap County is based on the principle of equal opportunity and this principle will be implemented in all county personnel-related actions including, but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, testing, training, promotion, compensation, transfer and all other terms and conditions of employment in all job classifications.

3.05.030 Harassment.

Harassment based on race, color, religion, religious affiliation, creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, honorably discharged veteran or military status, or the presence of a sensory, mental or physical disability is a form of discrimination.

3.05.040 Retaliation.

Retaliation is any adverse or hostile action against an employee who in good faith reports discrimination.

3.05.050 Discrimination, retaliation prohibited.

Discrimination and retaliation in employment are illegal, unlawful, and prohibited.

3.05.060 Reporting policies and procedures.

Every county official must ensure procedures are established for employees to report harassment or discrimination. Officers appointed by the board of county commissioners must follow policies and procedures adopted by the board.

3.05.070 Contract, right of action not established.

This chapter does not establish a contract, express or implied, or a private right of action.
