2.10.010 Appointed officers.

The appointed officers in accordance with RCW 35A.12.020 for the city shall include:

(1) The finance director;

(2) The chief of police;

(3) The city attorney; and

2.10.020 Certain duties combined.

The office and duties of the city clerk shall be combined with those of the city treasurer, and the combined position will be entitled “finance director.” References in this municipal code to clerk, treasurer and clerk/treasurer shall apply equally to, and be fulfilled by, the finance director. 2.10.030 Finance director – Duties.

(1) The finance director, subject to applicable provisions of state law and the ordinances of the city of La Center, shall:

(a) Be responsible for all duties of the city clerk as established by state law or the municipal code, including those duties enumerated in RCW 35A.42.040; record and certify all ordinances and resolutions of the city; serve as custodian of the city seal and all official city records; publish all legal notices unless otherwise provided by law; and perform other duties as may be required by state law, city ordinance, or as the mayor or city council may direct.

(b) Be responsible and serve as the city’s chief financial officer, perform all duties as established by statute or ordinance, including those set forth in RCW 35A.42.010, and such other duties as may be required by state law, city ordinance, or as the mayor or city council may direct.

(2) The finance director or the finance director’s designee shall attend all meetings of the city council and planning commission and other city bodies required to comply with the open meetings law, take minutes and keep permanent journals of the proceedings. 2.10.040 Administrative services manager – Duties.

In lieu of the position of finance director, a manager of administrative services may be appointed to perform the duties of the finance director, city clerk, as well as being responsible for employee and community communications and the city’s information technology services. 2.10.050 Official bond.

Any person before entering upon the duties of the city clerk, treasurer or police chief shall take an oath of office for the faithful performance of his or her duties and shall execute and file with the clerk of the council a bond in favor of the city in the amount of no less than $50,000. The premium on such bond shall be paid by the city. [Ord. 2022-07 § 1, 2022.]
