2.21.010 Powers.

The city manager shall have all powers conferred upon him by state law, city ordinances and resolutions, as now or hereafter enacted, amended or otherwise changed, plus those granted to him from time to time by motions of the city council at an official meeting. 2.21.020 Duties.

The city manager shall have such duties as are imposed upon him by state statute, city ordinances and resolutions, as now or hereafter enacted, amended or otherwise changed. The duty imposed upon the city manager by RCW 35A.33.135 of providing the council with financial information in order that an ordinance may be adopted annually fixing the amount of ad valorem taxes to be levied shall be performed by him by the fourth Thursday in September of each year. 2.21.030 Appointment and discharge authority.

Except as otherwise provided by state statute, no appointment made by the city manager need be confirmed by the city council notwithstanding any provisions of this code to the contrary, it being the intent to confer upon the city manager the right of appointment and discharge over all city officials and employees in the manner provided by the applicable state statutes as now enacted and as hereafter amended or otherwise changed. 2.21.040 Assistant city manager – Duties – Combined offices.

The assistant city manager shall be appointed by the city manager and shall have such duties as shall be assigned to him or her by the city manager. The office of assistant city manager may, at the direction of the city manager, be combined with the office of any city official described in LMC 2.09.010. (Ord. 2552 § 1, 1994).
