2.20.010 Appointment—Removal.

There is created the office of city administrator, which office shall be filled by appointment by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council according to the confirmation process established by council resolution. The city administrator shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor, and the term of employment, including tenure, may be specified by a contract executed by the mayor with the approval of a majority of the city council. No provision of the contract may be contrary to the requirements of state law or city ordinance. (Ord. 800 § 3 (part), 1994: Ord. 677 § 1, 1990: Ord. 393 § 1, 1982)

2.20.020 Scope of authority.

The city administrator is responsible for providing assistance to the mayor in the administration of city government. The city administrator will be responsible for the line management of all city departments, including accountability for their performance, and including supervision over the chief of police and the fire chief. All authority and responsibility of the city administrator is subject to the direction, authority and supervision of the mayor.
