2.22.010 Established.

There is established a city department known as the Mukilteo public works department, whose duties shall be to administer all city utility, street and infrastructure plans and regulations; to make recommendations to the mayor and council on all matters related to public works; to administer all city construction and public works-related contracts; and to perform such other duties as may be assigned by state law, city ordinance, or administrative order of the mayor or city administrator to the said department. Whenever any ordinance or code of the city of Mukilteo references the city engineer or public works department, such reference shall be deemed to refer to the public works department established by this chapter. 2.22.020 Public works director—Supervision—Appointment.

The Mukilteo public works department shall be operated under the direction and management of a public works director, who shall be subject to the supervision of the mayor through the city administrator. The public works director shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council according to the confirmation process established by council resolution.
