2.27.010 Establishment.

There is established a city department known as the Mukilteo police department, whose duties and responsibilities are protection for all persons and property located within the geographical boundaries of the city with the exception of the geographical areas occupied by the United States government, and including the areas covered by mutual aid agreements and interlocal agreements. 2.27.020 City council –Powers and authority.

The governing and policy-making body for the police department is the city council, whose function includes, but is not limited to, furnishing funds and established the scope and level of service provided by the department. (Ord. 746 (part), 1992)

2.27.030 Police chief –Appointment.

A police chief shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council. This is not a civil service position. (Ord. 746 (part), 1992)

2.27.040 Police chief –Accountable to mayor.

The chief is directly accountable to the mayor through the city administrator. (Ord. 746 (part), 1992)
