10.36.010 Definitions.

A. “City street” means all streets, roads, alleys and rights-of-way within the corporate limits of the city of Okanogan.

B. “Truck route” means traffic routes on which travel of vehicles in excess of 26,000 gross weight pounds is permitted. (Ord. 789 § 1, 1994)

10.36.020 Truck routes established.

The portions of the streets and arterials of the city designated in this section are established as the exclusive truck routes upon which trucks and commercial vehicles in excess of 26,000 gross weight pounds may travel, consistent with the map attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter as Exhibit 1 and by this reference herein incorporated.

A. Second Avenue/Elm Way from the southwesterly city limit to the northeasterly city limit.

B. Pine Street/Sixth Avenue/Orchard Grade (Conconully Highway) from the intersection of Pine Street and Second Avenue, along the continuing arterial of Pine Street/ Sixth Avenue/Orchard Grade (Conconully Highway) to the corporate city limit.

C. Oak Street/Van Duyn/Eastside River Road (Rodeo Trail) from the intersection of Oak Street and Second Avenue along the continuing arterial route to VanDuyn Street and the Eastside River Road (Rodeo Trail) to the corporate city limit and/or the highway approaches to U. S. Highway 97.

D. SR 20 from the southwesterly corporate city limit to intersection with U.S. Highway 97.

E. First Avenue between Oak Street and Tyee Street.

F. Tyee Street between First Avenue and Fifth Avenue.

G. Fifth Avenue/Gordon Street from the intersection of Fifth Avenue with Pine Street to the intersection of Gordon Street and Second Avenue.

H. Mill Street from its intersection with Fifth Avenue northwesterly to the corporate city limit.

I. Conconully Street/Murray Street/West Hennepin from the intersection of Conconully Street and Second Avenue along the continuing arterial of Conconully Street/Murray Street/West Hennepin Street to the corporate city limit. (Ord. 789 § 1, 1994)

10.36.030 Placement of signs.

Upon the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, the superintendent of public works is directed to install at the appropriate places of ingress to and egress from the city, traffic signs notifying motorists of the requirement of this chapter. (Ord. 789 § 1, 1994)

10.36.040 Exceptions.

A. For the exclusive purposes of local pickup, delivery, repair or other necessary business only, trucks or commercial vehicles having a weight in excess of 26,000 gross weight pounds may leave the designated truck routes; provided, however, such travel shall follow the shortest course in order to make the local delivery, repair or other necessary business.

B. In addition to the above, such restrictions shall not apply to school buses, municipal vehicles and other emergency vehicles serving the residents of the city. (Ord. 789 § 1, 1994)

10.36.050 Parking of large trucks or commercial vehicles in residential areas.

Trucks or commercial vehicles in excess of 26,000 gross weight pounds shall not be parked on residential streets off the established truck route within the city. (Ord. 789 § 1, 1994)

10.36.060 Penalty provisions.

Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00. (Ord. 789 § 1, 1994)
