11.20.010 Permit and plans required.

Before any sidewalk is installed on the public right-of-way abutting upon any street in the residential areas (R-1 and R-2 residential zones), the owner of said property, or someone authorized by him, shall file an application for a building permit, together with a plan of said improvements, showing the location, the depth and specifications thereof. (Ord, 487 § 1, 1975).

11.20.020 Measurements for sidewalks and curbs.

Hereafter, any sidewalks installed on that portion of the public right-of-way abutting on every street in the residential areas of Othello (R-1 and R-2 residential zones) shall be installed at a width of five feet and located abutting upon the curb and measuring five feet perpendicular therefrom for the full width of the property of said owner or applicant, and if no curb has been installed, the applicant shall install a curb on the street margin for the full street frontage of the property owned or in possession of the applicant. 11.20.030 Accommodations for curbline postal delivery.

Any applicant for a building permit for the installation of sidewalks shall obtain a written statement from the postmaster of the city of Othello reciting whether or not mail delivery shall be at the curbline for any occupants of premises abutting upon said proposed sidewalk, and if curb delivery of mail is proposed by the postmaster, the applicant shall provide in his sidewalk construction plans, specifications to accommodate suitable facilities to receive curbline postal delivery. 11.20.040 Improvements to comply with specifications.

All such improvements shall be according to the specifications of the city of Othello and subject to the approval and acceptance by the city of Othello and installed in the manner that provides for the safe travel of pedestrians on said improvement. (Ord. 487 § 4, 1975).

11.20.050 Improvements at owner’s expense.

Applicant will install such improvements at his own cost and expense, and hold the city of Othello harmless from any expense therefrom. (Ord. 487 § 5, 1975).
