12.08.010 Established.
A water and sewer department of the city is hereby established. The officers and other employees shall consist of a public works director and such other personnel as the city council may from time to time deem necessary for the efficient administration of the department. 12.08.020 Personnel—Appointment and salary.
The public works director of the water and sewer department and such other personnel as the city council may from time to time authorize shall be appointed by the mayor and shall hold such appointment at the pleasure of the mayor. The public works director and such other personnel as may be authorized shall receive a salary determined by the city council. (Ord. 1400 § 2 (part), 2014: Ord. 164 § 202; September 26, 1955).
12.08.030 Public works director—Duties.
The duties of the public works director shall be to oversee and superintend the operation and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, domestic water system, and irrigation water system, the making of repairs of all kinds, the construction of all extensions and additions, and all construction work of whatever nature whatsoever in connection with the present sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, domestic water systems, irrigation water systems, and any new systems that may be established. The public works director shall at all times be subject to the direction and authority of the mayor/city administrator.
