10.24.010 Placement of turning markers – Obedience required.

A. The chief of police is authorized to place, or cause to be placed, markers, buttons or signs within or adjacent to intersections, indicating the course to be traveled by vehicles turning at such intersections, in accordance with the provisions of this title and RCW 47.36.060.

B. When authorized markers, buttons or other indications are placed within an intersection indicating the course to be traveled by vehicles turning thereat, no driver of a vehicle shall disobey the directions of such indications. [Ord. 423 §25, 1970].

10.24.020 Restricted turn signs.

The city council may determine those intersections at which drivers of vehicles shall not make a right, left or U-turn, and shall cause to be placed proper signs at such intersections. The making of such turns may be prohibited between certain hours of any day and permitted at other hours, in which event, the same shall be plainly indicated on the signs, or they may be removed when such turns are permitted. 10.24.030 Obedience to turn signs.

Whenever authorized signs are erected indicating that no right or left or U-turn is permitted, no driver of a vehicle shall disobey the directions of any such sign. [Ord. 423 §27, 1970].

10.24.040 U-turns – Where permitted.

U-turns shall be permitted at all intersections, except at intersections where signs indicate the U-turns may not be made. [Ord. 449 §1, 1973].

10.24.050 U-turns – Where prohibited.

U-turns shall be prohibited other than at proper intersections. [Ord. 449 §2, 1973].

10.24.055 Crossing centerline – Where prohibited.

Crossing centerline on Main Street between H Street and Mary Street is prohibited except for a vehicle turning left into or from an alley, private road or driveway. [Ord. 706 §1, 1998].

10.24.060 Penalties.

Any person convicted of violating any provision of this chapter shall be assessed a fine of not less than $25.00, nor more than $100.00, for each violation. No part of the fine shall be subject to suspension. [Ord. 629 §1, 1992].
