PUBLIC RECORDS

Sections:

2.60.005    Purpose.

2.60.010    Public Records Officer.

2.60.015    Adoption of indexes.

2.60.025    Public records request forms.

2.60.030    Costs for copying public records.

2.60.005 Purpose.

This chapter is adopted pursuant to the Public Records Act adopted by the Legislature of the State of Washington, Chapter 42.56 RCW, and as amended. (Ord 17-495 §1 (Ex A); Ord 13-320 §1 (Ex A); Ord 09-263 (Ex A))

2.60.010 Public Records Officer.

The Executive Assistant to the Mayor shall be the Public Records Officer for the City. (Ord 23-589 §1; Ord 17-495 §1 (Ex A); Ord 13-320 §1 (Ex A); Ord 09-263 (Ex A))

2.60.015 Adoption of indexes.

Pursuant to RCW 42.56.070(4) the City does not maintain a list of indexes identified in RCW 42.56.070(3), as the maintenance of such a list is unduly burdensome to the City due to the size and makeup of the City’s staff, in comparison with the burdens to the public for any delays in reviewing a public record or receiving a copy of a public record. (Ord 17-495 §1 (Ex A); Ord 13-320 §1 (Ex A); Ord 09-263 (Ex A))

2.60.025 Public records request forms.

The Public Records Officer shall establish policies and procedures, including forms to request records. Such forms shall be the basis for an independent and complete record of the request for public records and the City’s actions in response thereto. The completed forms shall be maintained by the Public Records Officer in chronological order, by the date of the request for public records. (Ord 17-495 §1 (Ex A); Ord 13-320 §1 (Ex A); Ord 09-263 (Ex A))

2.60.030 Costs for copying public records.

The costs for copying public records shall be established in the City’s Rate Resolution. Pursuant to RCW 42.56.120(2)(b), the City need not calculate the actual costs it charges for providing public records, as the cost analysis would be unduly burdensome to the City due to the size and makeup of the City’s staff, in comparison with the burdens to the public for any delays in reviewing a public record, or receiving a copy of a public record. (Ord 17-495 §1 (Ex A); Ord 13-320 §1 (Ex A))
