CITY EMPLOYEE INDEMNIFICATION

1.66.010 Purpose.

The city council of the city of Ritzville desires to indemnify and hold personally harmless all of its elected and appointed officials and employees and agents from any claims, actions or proceedings which may be brought against them arising out of their performance or alleged failure to perform the duties of their offices and/or employment. (Ord. 759 § 1, 1985).

1.66.020 Indemnification of city officials and employees.

A. The city of Ritzville does indemnify and hold personally harmless all of its elected and appointed officials, and employees from any actions or claims brought against them arising out of their performance or their alleged failure to perform their duties required under their offices or employment with the city of Ritzville so long as the performance or alleged failure to perform was exercised in good faith. The above shall include holding the officers, appointed officials and employees harmless with respect to any expenses incurred in connection with the defense, settlement or payment of monetary judgments incurred or obtained in such action, claims or proceedings.

B. The city of Ritzville does authorize the purchase of insurance by the city to insure the performance by the city of the above obligations and purchase of insurance shall not be considered as additional compensation for the employees, elected officials or appointed officials.
