2.16.010 Appointment by mayor.

The mayor shall appoint a qualified attorney under the laws of the state, who shall hold office at the pleasure of the mayor.

2.16.020 Duties.

The city attorney shall attend all regular meetings of the city council and give legal opinions to the council and mayor when requested to do so upon any matters relating to the business and affairs of the city. He shall also prepare ordinances and resolutions when requested by the mayor or council. The city attorney shall prosecute or defend all actions whenever the city is an interested party to the suit.

2.16.030 Compensation.

The city attorney shall receive such compensation as the council may fix and determine, unless by agreement made and entered upon the minutes prior to the rendition of services in suits in courts of record.
