2.28.010 Department created.

The department of community and economic development is created, which shall include the divisions of administration, comprehensive planning, current planning, community and economic development, building, parks participant recreation and other divisions as the city council may from time to time designate. The department of community and economic development shall also serve as the city planning agency as defined by RCW 35A.63.020. 2.28.020 Director—Appointed.

The department of community and economic development shall be managed by the director of community and economic development, who shall be appointed by the city manager. (Ord. 1921-0518 (part), 2018; Ord. 1549-0801 § 1 (part), 2001; Ord. 1308 § 2.3, 1990)

2.28.030 Director—Duties.

The director of community and economic development shall be responsible for the administration of those divisions stated in Section 2.28.010 and shall also serve as the building official as defined in the Shelton Municipal Code when deemed necessary. Upon budget approval by the city council and final approval by the city manager, the community development director shall appoint such personnel as is necessary to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the department.
