HONORARY LIFE MEMBERS OF CERTAIN BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

2.13.010 Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to authorize the appointment of honorary life members to the city’s arts commission, civil service commission, parks board, planning commission and other boards and commissions as the council may designate in recognition of exemplary long term volunteer service to the city. (Ord. 1108 § 1, 2013).

2.13.020 Appointment.

A. Honorary life members of boards or commissions shall be proposed by the mayor or any member of the city council, and shall be confirmed by the affirmative vote of a majority plus one of the city council.

B. Persons appointed as honorary life members will have usually served for 10 or more years on the board or commission to which they are appointed as an honorary life member, and have actively participated in the work of such board or commission, provided, the city council may confer such appointment on any person whose service is deemed worthy of such appointment regardless of the length of service. (Ord. 1108 § 1, 2013).

2.13.030 Participation in meetings.

Honorary life members of a board or commission shall receive notices, agendas and minutes of meetings, and shall be invited to attend and participate in such meetings, but shall not be entitled to vote. (Ord. 1108 § 1, 2013).
