8.12.010 Definitions.

For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings described to them as follows:

A. “Motor vehicle” means any truck, trailer, semitrailer, or other self-propelled or motor driven vehicle.

B. “Other conveyances” includes horse-drawn conveyances and conveyances propelled otherwise than as stated in subsection A of this section. (Ord. 286 §§ 2, 3, 1957).

8.12.020 Locating within city limits prohibited – Exception.

All motor vehicles, house trailers and other conveyances used as living quarters shall be prohibited from locating within the city limits of the city, except within tourist, auto, or trailer parks or camps where sanitary provisions are provided for same. (Ord. 286 § 1, 1957).

8.12.030 Violation – Penalty.

A. No vehicles covered by this section shall be used in any zone district within the city for living or sleeping when the vehicle is located outside of a permitted motor home park or a recreational vehicle park; provided, however, that this restriction shall not apply when the user of the vehicle is not a resident of the city but is visiting a resident of the city in which event the vehicle may be lived in for a period not exceeding 14 days per calendar year or with permission of the city superintendent; and

1. A vehicle located outside a permitted motor home park or a permitted recreational vehicle park shall not be permanently connected to a separately metered gas, water or sewer service but may be temporarily connected to existing metered water service and electric service for the purpose of maintaining moisture or temperature control within the vehicle.

2. The discharge of waste water from a vehicle into a storm drain or onto the property where a vehicle is parked is prohibited.

3. The vehicle may not be on public property.

B. Any person, including but not limited to property owner, vehicle owner or the user, found in violation of this section shall receive a warning on the first violation and will be subject to a penalty as authorized by SLMC 1.10.030, category C-9, each and every day a violation occurs or each and every day the 14-day limit is exceeded.
