9.28.010 State speed laws applicable.
The state traffic laws regulating the speed of vehicles shall be applicable upon all streets within this city, except as this title, as authorized by state law, declares and determines upon the basis of engineering and traffic investigation that certain speed regulations shall be applicable upon specified streets or in certain areas. In that event it is unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of any speed so declared in this title when signs are in place giving notice thereof. (Ord. 651 § 22, 1967)
9.28.020 Regulation of speed by traffic signals.
The city utilities superintendent is authorized to regulate the timing of traffic signals so as to permit the movement of traffic in an orderly and safe manner. (Ord. 651 § 23, 1967)
9.28.030 City speed limit established.
The speed limit within the incorporated boundaries of the city is established as twenty-five miles per hour, unless as otherwise posted, and the speed limit within the incorporated boundaries of the city on State Highway SR-9 is established at thirty miles per hour. 9.28.040 Highway No. 9 and Highway No. 547.
(a) The traffic laws regulating the speed of vehicles on Highway Nos. 547 and 9 within the city limits shall be as follows:
(1) On Cherry Street from the U.S./Canada border south to the intersection with State Highway No. 547, said intersection referred to hereafter as the Cherry Street-Highway No. 547 intersection, the speed shall be established at twenty-five miles per hour.
(2) From the Cherry Street-Highway No. 547 intersection eastbound on Highway No. 547 to the city limits the maximum speed limit shall be established at thirty miles per hour.
(3) From the Cherry Street-Highway No. 547 intersection westbound on Highway No. 9 to the city limits the maximum speed limit shall be established at thirty-five miles per hour.
(b) It is unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of the maximum speeds as set forth in this section when signs are placed giving notice thereof. (Ord. 917, 1986)
