2.48.010 Position established.

The position of municipal court judge is hereby created and established. The municipal court judge shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members of the city council and approval of the municipal court judge’s employment agreement. The term of office shall be four years, as provided in RCW 3.50.040. The person appointed as municipal court judge shall be a citizen of the United States of America and of the state of Washington, and be an attorney admitted to practice law before the courts of record of the state of Washington. 2.48.020 Municipal court judge pro tempore.

The position of municipal court judge pro tempore is hereby created and established. The municipal court judge shall appoint one or more persons as a municipal court judge pro tempore. The person so appointed as a municipal court judge pro tempore shall be a citizen of the United States of America and of the state of Washington, and be an attorney admitted to practice law before the courts of record of the state of Washington. A municipal court judge pro tempore, while so acting, shall have all of the powers of the municipal court judge. (Ord. 1925 § 1, 2000: Ord. 1889 § 9 (part), 1999: Ord. 1725 § 2, 1995)

2.48.030 Compensation.

The municipal court judge shall receive as compensation for their services a monthly salary in an amount as established by the city council through an adopted compensation schedule and prorated benefits consistent with those benefits provided to all eligible city employees.

A judge pro tempore shall receive as compensation for their services an hourly rate as established by the city council through an adopted compensation schedule, as currently adopted or amended. The judge pro tempore shall serve pursuant to a professional services agreement, and shall submit invoice(s) to the city for payment of their rendered services.
