ACCESSORY USES

17.75.010 Accessory uses and structures permitted.

Permitted accessory uses and structures shall be as follows:

A. In all districts, attached or freestanding private garages or carports;

B. Accessory dwelling units are subject to the requirements of TMC 17.70.090;

C. Keeping of chickens in compliance with TMC 17.70.180;

D. In all districts but the AI and M-1 districts, the renting of rooms to not more than two boarders, roomers, or lodgers;

E. In all districts, a swimming pool if it is not located in a required front yard and provided it is enclosed by fence and/or barrier as required by the building code and is located at least five feet from all lot lines;

F. Fences shall be permitted within or surrounding a lot in all districts. In the R-R, R-1 and R-2 districts, fences shall not exceed four feet in height in any yard which abuts on a street other than an alley and six feet in height in any other yard;

G. In a residential district, home occupations in accordance with TMC 17.70.150;

H. Signs in accordance with TMC 17.70.140 and Chapter 15.12 TMC;

I. Other accessory structures may be permitted; provided, that they meet the definition of “accessory structure or use” contained in TMC 17.10.010. (Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).

17.75.020 Additional standards governing accessory uses and structures.

A. An accessory structure or use shall meet the dimensional standards in Table 2, TMC 17.70.080, for the district in which it is located except as modified in this chapter.

B. Accessory structures shall not exceed a height of 24 feet.

C. Accessory structures located where permitted for primary structures may meet the restrictions for primary structures. (Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).
