JEFFERSON PARK POND – FISHING REGULATIONS

2.92.010 Use restricted to juveniles, certain senior anglers and anglers with a disability who possess a designated harvester companion card.

The pond in Jefferson Park, Walla Walla, is designated as fishing waters restricted to juveniles, senior anglers who are age seventy or older, and anglers with disabilities who possess a designated harvester companion card, and shall be open for fishing under the conditions hereinafter set forth and by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. 2.92.020 Juveniles – Age limit and license.

It is unlawful for any person fifteen years of age or over, unless otherwise permitted herein, to fish in the waters designated in Section 2.92.010. No fishing license is required for juveniles to fish these waters. (Ord. 2023-10 § 3, 2023; Ord. 98-43 § 2, 1998: prior code § 6.60.020).

2.92.030 Juveniles – Assistance restrictions.

It is unlawful for any person other than the juvenile to cast, or otherwise handle the fishing pole or line of the juvenile, it being the intent and purpose in establishing these juvenile fishing waters that the juvenile alone do the fishing. Any other person, may, however, assist the juvenile in baiting the hook or removing the fish from the hook. (Prior code § 6.60.060).

2.92.035 Senior anglers – Age limit and license.

It is unlawful for any person under the age of seventy, unless otherwise permitted herein, to fish in the waters designated in Section 2.92.010. A valid and current fishing license is required for a senior angler. (Ord. 2023-10 § 4, 2023).

2.92.036 Anglers with disability – Requirements.

Anglers with a disability who possess a designated harvester companion card may fish in the waters designated in Section 2.92.010 under the conditions hereinafter set forth and by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. (Ord. 2023-10 § 5, 2023).

2.92.040 Daily limit.

The daily bag limit and possession limit for fish taken in these waters shall be as governed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. (Ord. 98-43 § 3, 1998: prior code § 6.60.030).

2.92.050 Fishing season and hours.

The fishing season is year round.

It is unlawful to fish between the hours of nine p.m. and six a.m. (Ord. 98-43 § 4, 1998: prior code § 6.60.040).

2.92.060 Fishing from boats or other equipment prohibited.

It is unlawful to fish from a boat or any other floating device. (Ord. 98-43 § 5, 1998: prior code § 6.60.050).

2.92.070 Unauthorized fishing – Unlawful acts designated.

It is unlawful to fish or to make any effort to kill, injure, disturb or capture or catch fish in any pond, lake, stream, river or other waters within the city limits, on or from any city property or right-of-way, or from private property without the permission of the owner or occupier thereof, except as provided in the foregoing sections of this chapter.
