9.20.010 Rewards authorized.

Subject to the provisions of this chapter, the city may pay up to one thousand dollars to any person or persons for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons committing criminal offenses against city property specified in Municipal Code Section 9.17.180(A), 9.17.180(B), 9.17.260, 9.17.280, 9.17.300, 9.17.310, Revised Code of Washington Section 9A.48.070, 9A.48.080 or 9A.48.090. 9.20.020 Limitation on number of rewards.

No more than one reward up to one thousand dollars may be paid arising out of an incident regardless of the number of persons providing information, persons committing offenses, criminal offenses, arrests, convictions, acts causing injury or destruction, or property injured or destroyed. 9.20.030 Rewards not payable to employees.

No reward shall be paid to any employee, spouse of any employee, or child residing with any employee of the city of Walla Walla, county of Walla Walla, state of Washington, or any law enforcement authority. (Ord. 96-26 § 2(part), 1996: Ord. 96-22 § 1(part), 1996).

9.20.040 Rewards not payable to participants.

No person who has participated with, aided or encouraged another to commit an act which injures or destroys city property shall be entitled to a reward. (Ord. 96-26 § 2(part), 1996: Ord. 96-22 § 1(part), 1996).

9.20.050 Claiming rewards.

Claims for rewards shall be presented to the Walla Walla city manager who is authorized to accept, reject, or refer said claims to the Walla Walla city council for consideration, however, no claim shall be considered nor reward paid until after conviction of the person or persons who committed criminal offenses against city property, and no claim shall be considered nor reward paid unless it is presented to the Walla Walla city manager no later than thirty calendar days after conviction of the person or persons who committed criminal offenses against city property. 9.20.060 Multiple claimants.

When more than one claimant applies for the payment of any reward, the Walla Walla city council shall determine to whom the same shall be paid, and if to more than one person, in what proportion to each; and its determination shall be final and conclusive. 9.20.070 Payment of claims.

Whenever a person or persons providing the information shall be entitled to a reward offered by this chapter, the reward may be paid out of any money in the city treasury not otherwise appropriated, subject to approval by the Walla Walla city council. 9.20.080 Notice of offer or rewards.

The Walla Walla city manager is authorized to direct the posting or publication of notice of rewards as may be appropriate in his or her discretion. (Ord. 96-26 § 2(part), 1996: Ord. 96-22 § 1(part), 1996).

9.20.090 Effective date.

No reward shall be paid for information which was received by the city of Walla Walla, county of Walla Walla, state of Washington, or any law enforcement authority on or before August 14, 1996. (Ord. 96-26 § 2(part), 1996: Ord. 96-22 § 1(part), 1996).
