10.29.050 Temporary closure by police chief authorized.

The city of Walla Walla police chief and his or her designees are authorized to temporarily close city roadways, streets, and rights-of-way to vehicular traffic for periods of time not exceeding twelve hours. Notice of such closure shall be posted or otherwise conspicuously given at each end at which the closed roadway, street, or right-of-way may be entered. It shall be unlawful to use a vehicle upon a roadway, street, or right-of-way which has been closed unless expressly authorized by the city of Walla Walla police chief or his or her designees. 10.29.060 Police chief authorized to temporarily restrict use.

The city of Walla Walla police chief and his or her designees are authorized to temporarily restrict the use of city roadways, streets, and rights-of-way by vehicles, other conveyances, and pedestrians for periods of time not exceeding twelve hours. Notice of such restrictions shall be posted or otherwise conspicuously given at each end at which the restricted roadway, street, or right-of-way may be entered. It shall be unlawful to use a roadway, street, or right-of-way in violation of such a use restriction unless expressly authorized by the city of Walla Walla police chief or his or her designees. 10.29.070 Temporary closure or restriction of use of Green Lane by Walla Walla School District No. 140 authorized.

A. The superintendent of Walla Walla Public School District No. 140 and his or her designees are authorized to temporarily close Green Lane to vehicular traffic for periods of time not exceeding twelve hours during days in which school is in session or special events are scheduled at Green Park Elementary School. Such closures shall commence no sooner than one hour before the start of school or the special event and such closures shall end no later than one hour after the end of school or the special event. Notice of such closure shall be posted or otherwise conspicuously given at each end at which Green Lane may be entered. It shall be unlawful to use a vehicle upon Green Lane during a period of closure unless expressly authorized by the superintendent of Walla Walla Public School District No. 140, the city of Walla Walla police chief or their designees.

B. The superintendent of Walla Walla Public School District No. 140 and his or her designees are authorized to temporarily restrict the use of Green Lane by vehicles, other conveyances and pedestrians for periods of time not exceeding twelve hours during days in which school is in session or special events are scheduled at Green Park Elementary School. Such restrictions shall commence no sooner than one hour before the start of school or the special event and such restrictions shall end no later than one hour after the end of school or the special event. Notice of such restrictions shall be posted or otherwise conspicuously given at each end at which Green Lane may be entered. It shall be unlawful to use Green Lane in violation of such use restriction unless expressly authorized by the superintendent of Walla Walla School Public District No. 140, the city of Walla Walla police chief or their designees. 10.29.080 Closures exceeding twelve hours.

City roadways, streets, and rights-of-way may be closed to vehicular traffic or restricted for periods of time exceeding twelve hours as provided in Chapter 47.48 RCW; provided, however, that nothing in this section shall prevent closures of city roadways, streets, and rights-of-way or restrictions upon their use for multiple periods of time of twelve hours or less; and provided further, that nothing in this chapter shall prevent the closure or restriction of use of city roadways, streets, and rights-of-way by any other means authorized by law. 10.29.100 Violations.

Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be a misdemeanor punishable as provided in Section 1.24.010 of this code. (Ord. 2002-07 § 1(part), 2002.)
