FORECLOSURE OF ASSESSMENTS FOR LOCAL IMPROVEMENTS

17.16.010 Authorized when – Procedure.

Whenever on the first day of January of any year two installments of any local improvement assessment shall be delinquent or the final installment thereof shall have been delinquent for more than one year, the city treasurer shall on or before the first day of July of such year proceed with the foreclosure of all such delinquent assessments or installment or installments thereof, as the case may be, by proceedings in court therefor in an action brought in the name of the city in the superior court of Walla Walla County. 17.16.020 Failure to pay assessments accelerates amounts due and payable.

Upon failure to pay any installment due upon a local improvement assessment, the entire assessment shall become due and payable and the collection thereof enforced by foreclosure; provided, that the payment of all delinquent installments together with interest, penalties, and administrative costs at any time before entry of judgment in foreclosure shall extend the time of payment on the remainder of the assessments as if there had been no delinquency or foreclosure.
