13.12.010 Mayor – Water restriction authority.

The mayor of the town is empowered to, from time to time and as circumstances require, declare an emergency situation due to shortage of water in the supply system, and after publication of the declaration of emergency, unless users are given actual notice at an earlier time, may restrict irrigation or sprinkling of lawns and gardens and other large volume use of water and may establish hours and days at which such watering may be done. (Ord. 393 § 1, 1977).

13.12.020 Mayor authority to establish gallonage usage.

If the emergency situation of the water supply system is severe enough, the mayor is empowered to establish gallonage usage limits and see that the same are enforced. (Ord. 393 § 2, 1977).

13.12.030 Violation – Penalty.

A. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the mayor’s imposed restrictions as provided for in this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of the provisions of the mayor’s imposed restrictions is committed, continued or permitted and upon conviction such person shall be punished as set forth in WMC 1.16.010.

B. Upon any subsequent violation, the water may be shut off from said premises in addition to any fine on connection, and the city reconnection charge shall be paid before the water is turned on. (Ord. 563 § 34, 1996; Ord. 422 §§ 2, 3, 1980; Ord. 393 § 3, 1977).
