10.08.010 In city.

It is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle at speeds in excess of 25 miles per hour on the public streets and ways in the city, except as otherwise provided in this chapter. [Ord. 8-17 § 1, 2017; Ord. 12-97 § 1, 1997; Ord. 120 § 2, 1967].

10.08.020 Speed limit – School zones and playgrounds.

Except where a lower maximum lawful speed limit is provided in this chapter or otherwise, it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle at a speed in excess of 20 miles per hour when passing any marked school or playground, when the school or playground is fully posted with standard school or playground speed limit signs requiring such reduced speed. 10.08.030 Speed limit on State Highway No. 224.

The speed limit for that portion of State Highway No. 224 lying within the city limits, and commonly known as Van Giesen Street, is established as 30 miles per hour between the eastern city limits and 0.05 miles west of South 40th Avenue intersection; 35 miles per hour between 0.05 miles west of South 40th Avenue intersection and 0.26 miles west of Ruppert Road intersection; and 55 miles per hour from 0.26 miles west of Ruppert Road intersection to the western city limits. It is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on the above referenced section of State Highway No. 224 in excess of the speed limit established by this section. 10.08.040 Speed limit of 30 miles per hour.

A speed limit of 30 miles per hour is established on the following street(s), and it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on said street(s) in excess of the speed limit established by this section:

A. On South 38th Avenue from SR 224 (Van Giesen) to south city limits.

B. On South 38th Avenue from Northlake Drive to north city limits.

C. On Belmont Boulevard between Paradise Way and SR 224 (West Van Giesen).

D. On Mt. Adams View Drive from Bombing Range Road to east city limits.

10.08.050 Speed limit of 35 miles per hour.

A speed limit of 35 miles per hour is established on the following streets, and it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on said streets in excess of the speed limit established by this section:

A. On Bombing Range Road from its intersection with Van Giesen Street (State Highway No. 224), south along Bombing Range Road to its intersection with Kennedy Road.

B. On Grosscup Boulevard from its intersection with Van Giesen, north to its intersection with Harrington Road and 62nd Avenue.

C. On Dallas Road from Kennedy Road to the south city limits.

D. On Harrington Road from its intersection with Grosscup Boulevard and North 62nd Avenue to the north city limits.

E. On Paradise Way 900 feet west of Bombing Range Road to Keene Road.

F. On Belmont Boulevard from Keene Road to Paradise Way. 10.08.060 Speed limit of 40 miles per hour.

A speed limit of 40 miles per hour is established on the following streets, and it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on said streets in excess of the speed limit established by this section:

A. On Kennedy Road from east city limits (approximately 30 feet east of Fire Mountain Road) to west city limits (approximately 100 feet west of Hershey Lane).

B. On Keene Road from 700 feet east of Bombing Range Road to Ruppert Road. 10.08.065 Speed limit of 45 miles per hour.

A speed limit of 45 miles per hour is established on the following streets, and it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on said streets in excess of the speed limit established by this section:

10.08.070 Speed limit of 50 miles per hour.

A speed limit of 50 miles per hour is established on the following streets, and it is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on said streets in excess of the speed limit established by this section:

10.08.080 Penalty for violation.
