15.04.010 Short title.

The regulations contained within this division shall be known as the “town building code.”  (Ord. 113-B §1.01, 1981)

15.04.020 Purpose--Declaration of hazard abatement.

The purpose of this title shall be as set forth in the most recently adopted edition of the International Building Code, and, in addition, shall be to declare all unsafe structures and buildings which constitute a hazard to life and limb, or which constitute a fire hazard, or a health hazard, a public nuisance, and to provide for their abatement by repair, rehabilitation, demolition or removal.  (Ord. 452 §3, 2006:  Ord. 147-B §l (part), 1984;  Ord. 113-B §1.02, 1981)

15.04.030 Purpose--Not to restrict construction.

The purpose of this title is entirely for the protection of public health and public safety.  It is not meant to restrict construction, so long as the construction meets generally acceptable building practices set forth in the most recently adopted edition of the International Building Code.  (Ord. 452 §4, 2006:  Ord. 147-B §l(part), 1984;  Ord. 113-B (part), 1981)

15.04.040 Permit--Required.

Permits are required on all types of new construction, remodeling, or altering of any building, residential, commercial, or industrial.  Permits are not required on any type of repairs considered as normal maintenance, such as:  painting, wallpapering, reroofing, siding, replacing windows, or adding insulation to an existing structure.  Any change of structure or remodeling will require a permit.  (Ord. 147-B §l(part), 1984;  Ord. 113-B (part), 1981)

15.04.050 Building inspector--Authority.

Pursuant to the most recently adopted edition of the International Building Code the building inspector for the town is designated as the building official for this jurisdiction and is authorized to enforce the provisions of this title except where relating to International Fire Code.  (Ord. 452 §5, 2006:  Ord. 147-B §1(part), 1984;  Ord. 113-B §2.01, 1981)

15.04.060 Violation--Penalty.

Pursuant to the most recently adopted edition of the International Building Code and most recently adopted edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code, a violation of this title shall be a misdemeanor and punishable, upon conviction, in accordance with state law.  With the exception of the above described penalty provisions, the sections of the uniform and international codes enumerated herein shall remain in full force and effect.  (Ord. 452 §6, 2006:  Ord. 147-B §l(part), 1984;  Ord. 113-B §2.07, 1981)
