18.04.010 Purpose.

It is the basic intent of this title to provide the citizens of the town with a means by which they may control the development of the land within their community, guide the community’s growth in a logical and orderly manner and maintain a quality environment within the community.  As such, this title is designed to accommodate the basic goal of compatible land use and also to encourage compatible development characteristics and logical provision of community services through efficient and economic design as defined or determined by a given intensity of land use.  A further purpose is to establish required minimum lot areas, yards, and open spaces as a means of providing for the basic elements of a suitable environment for living, business and industry. All of the above and throughout this title, the very basic purpose for this title is to provide for conservation of public health, safety, morals, convenience, and general welfare. 18.04.020 Enactment.

This title, establishing comprehensive zoning regulations for the town, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 35.63 RCW, Laws of the State of Washington, is pursuant to recommendation of the Wilbur planning commission. (Ord. 108-B §1.02, 1980)

18.04.030 Short title.

This title shall be known and may be cited as “the Wilbur comprehensive zoning ordinance.” (Ord. 108-B §1.03, 1980)

18.04.040 Interpretation and application.

In their interpretation and application, the provisions of this title shall be held to be the minimum requirements, adopted for the public health, morals, safety or the general welfare. Whenever the requirements of this title differ with the requirements of any other lawfully adopted rules, regulations, or ordinances, the most restrictive, or that imposing the highest standards, shall govern.
