2.12.010 Office created.

There is established the office of the Town Clerk-Treasurer.  The position of Clerk-Treasurer shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor, with the advice of the Town Council, and hold such office at the pleasure of the Mayor.  The Clerk-Treasurer shall serve under the general direction of the Mayor or the Mayor’s designee.  All references in the Woodway Municipal Code to Town Clerk shall be interchangeable with Clerk-Treasurer.  (Ord. 17-578 § 1 (Exh. 2.12.020 Duties.

The Clerk-Treasurer shall have all of the powers granted and duties imposed by authority of the laws of the State and ordinances of the Town, now existing or subsequently adopted.  The Clerk-Treasurer shall be in charge of the Clerk-Treasurer’s office, including the supervision and evaluation of the performance of assigned personnel.  The Clerk-Treasurer, or deputy as assigned by the Clerk-Treasurer, shall attend all meetings of the Town Council and keep a complete record of the proceedings thereof; and have custody of the Town’s seal, the original roll of ordinances, the original contracts, deeds and certificates relative to the title of any property of the Town and such other records or documents as are required to be deposited with the Town.  The Clerk-Treasurer shall attest all public instruments and official acts of the Mayor and shall provide certified copies of original records as may be required.  The Clerk-Treasurer shall plan, organize, coordinate and direct the Town’s financial and information technology activities.  This work includes preparation of the Town’s budget, oversight of all procedures and policies and activities associated with the Town’s audit by the State Auditor’s Office, and implementation of all investments with oversight and direction by the Town Council’s Investment Committee.  (Ord. 17-578 § 1 (Exh. 2.12.030 Compensation.

The Town Council authorizes the Mayor to exercise good judgment in paying the Clerk-Treasurer and personnel assigned to the Clerk-Treasurer’s office within the pay ranges established in Section 2.16.010.  (Ord. 17-578 § 1 (Exh. B (part)), 2017:  Ord. 07-479 (part), 2007)
