OFFENSES AGAINST PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES

7.08.010 Interfering with public officers.

Every person who, by means of threat, force, violence or intimidation attempts to deter, delay, obstruct or prevent any public officers from performing any duty imposed upon him by law or by his officer, or who knowingly resists by force or violence any public officer in the performance of the officer’s duty is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 100 § 2.1, 1979)

7.08.020 Obstructing public officers.

Every person who, after notice, refuses or neglects to furnish information which may be required of him by any public officer or who, when requested for such information, knowingly and intentionally makes untrue misleading statements or who knowingly and wilfully hinders, delays, obstructs or otherwise interfere with the public officer in the discharge of his official duties, is guilty of a misdemeanor. 7.08.030 Refusal to aid officer.

Every person who, after having been lawfully commanded by a public officer to aid in arresting any person, or in retaking any person who has escaped from lawful custody, or in executing any lawful process, wilfully neglects or refuses to aid such officer, is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 100 § 2.3, 1979)

7.08.040 Taking property from an officer.

Every person who takes from the custody of any public officer or other person any personal property in his charge or who wilfully injures or destroys such property is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 100 § 2.4, 1979)

7.08.050 Resisting a public officer.

Every person who in any case or under any circumstances not otherwise specially provided for, wilfully resists, delays or obstructs a public officer in discharging or attempting to discharge any legal duty of his officer is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 100 § 2.5, 1979)

7.08.060 Aiding prisoner to escape.

Every person who, with intent to effect or assist the escape of a prisoner, whether such escape shall be effected or attempted, shall convey or send into a place a detention any instrument, weapon or other thing for aid in the escape or attempt to escape of a prisoner from lawful custody of a public officer, is guilty of a misdemeanor. 7.08.070 Criminal contempt.

Every person who commits a contempt of any one of the following offenses shall be guilty of a misdemeanor:

A.    Breach of the peace, noisy disturbance directly tending to interrupt the proceedings of court or town council meeting; or

B.    Refuse to be sworn or affirm or attest as a witness, or after being sworn to answer any lawful question. (Ord. 100 § 3.1, 1979)
