AUTOMOBILE AND MOTORCYCLE RACES

5.04.010 License – Required.

It is unlawful for any person, firm, corporation, association or society to sponsor, permit or conduct any automobile, motorcycle and/or other motorized vehicular races in the county, and without the limits of incorporated cities or towns therein, without first obtaining a license to do so as hereinafter provided.

5.04.020 License – Fee.

The license fee for sponsoring, permitting, or conducting any automobile, motorcycle and/or other motorized vehicular races shall be as follows:

5.04.030 License – Application.

Application for licenses hereunder shall be made in writing, filed with the clerk of the board of county commissioners and shall state the location of the place where the applicant or applicants will conduct such automobile, motorcycle and/or other motorized vehicular races and shall state that the applicant will comply with all the rules and regulations of Yakima County, Washington. The application shall be accompanied with full payment of the required fees.

5.04.040 License – Granting.

The board of county commissioners, after the application for license has been filed, may in its discretion, grant the license, or in its discretion, for any cause deemed sufficient, may refuse to grant the license for any automobile, motorcycle and/or other motorized vehicular races.

5.04.050 License – Expiration.

Annual licenses will expire midnight December 31st of each year.

5.04.060 License – Revocation.

Any license and/or licenses granted hereunder may be revoked by the board of county commissioners for any violation of the provisions of this chapter or any state or federal laws or for any other reason deemed adequate by the board.

5.04.070 License – Nontransferable.

No license granted shall be assigned or transferred except by written permission of the board of county commissioners.

5.04.080 Deputy Sheriff Required.

The board of county commissioners, at its discretion, may require any applicant for said license before any license is granted, to pay in advance for the employment of one or more deputy sheriffs to be appointed by the sheriff of Yakima County, Washington, whose duty shall be to police such automobile, motorcycle and/or other motorized vehicular races. The applicant’s failure to so comply will be deemed a violation of this chapter. Provided that, where the races being conducted pursuant to an annual license, the person, firm, corporation, association or society holding such license, shall, upon written notification, pay in advance and prior to each race for the employment of such deputy or deputies as deemed necessary by the board of county commissioners.
