18.27.010 Intent.

It is the intent of this chapter to minimize property damage, promote and protect the public health, safety and welfare, minimize water quality degradation by preventing siltation, flooding, contamination and erosion, protect aquifers, ensure the safety of city roads and rights-of-way, and foster other beneficial public uses including the use of low impact development strategies and technologies to the extent practicable. 18.27.020 Stormwater design standards.

The design of storm drainage and or retention/detention systems shall be designed to meet or exceed the most current edition of the Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington, as published by the Washington State Department of Ecology.

All stormwater runoff shall be retained, treated and disposed of on site or disposed of in a system designed for such runoff and which does not flood or damage adjacent properties.

No retention/detention facility shall be located in an area that is used to satisfy an open space requirement unless it enhances a recreational amenity. (Ord. 995 § 12 (Exh. A), 2015).
